Ali Salo is a freelance writer based outside Seattle, Washington. She holds an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University and was the recipient of a Hertog Research Fellowship and Fulbright Arts Grant. Her first foster dog ignited a passion for animal rescue, which culminated in a pack of six dogs and a certificate in Applied Animal Behavior from the University of Washington. She is currently working on a project through the Granta Long-Form Journalism Workshop focusing on frontline animal rescuers in areas with high shelter intake and euthanasia rates.
